some things i shouldn't have to explain

here are some important subjects that we shouldn't have to explain, but end up having to anyway due to ignorance :

  • abortion : let women have the right to choose what they do with what's in their body
  • clothing : no, a woman should NOT be raped because they wear little amounts of clothing.
  • verbal abuse : how would you like it if somebody you didn't want to do so, shouted at you in the street to "OIOI GET YOUR DICK OUT" or forcefully tried to put their hands in your trousers while you waited for your train? This "lad culture" of thinking it's okay to tell people to 'get their tits out', looking up somebody's skirt or making disgusting remarks that are in no way complimentary or respectful has got to stop, or at least be re-thought.
  • physical abuse : NOBODY should have the right to force a person, male or female, to do anything that makes them uncomfortable, especially when it comes to their OWN body. Even if you are married to the person you are forcing yourself upon, it is still not right. If they don't want to do it, then don't make them.
  • slut-shaming : Girls and boys, please rethink before you call somebody a 'slut'. A woman who wears what they want to wear is not a slut, nor do they 'deserve' any sexual abuse from it. As for a woman who 'sleeps around', if it is what they want to do, and they aren't bothering anybody else from it, then let them do so. It's none of your business. Have some respect for your fellow humans (who just so happen to have vaginas!) and stop making them feel bad about themselves, their bodies and their actions. Where would you be without a woman? That's all I ask. R.E.S.P.E.C.T (as Aretha Franklin would say!).
  • Gender : A boy can wear a dress. A girl can wear trousers and shave her head. Is that a problem for you? Does it stop you from functioning? If it does, I suggest you get some help on that issue. A man or woman can be whatever they choose to be and if that happens to be against your restricted views on 'how things should be' then perhaps you should talk to a transgender person or educate yourself. The same goes for sexuality. Gay, Straight, Bi, Asexual, whatever you are. You are entitled to be the 'straight, white male' and other people are allowed to be anything else they feel they comfortable being.
Educate yourselves, for all our sakes and your own. Think before you verbally abuse somebody's rights. Just think. You aren't the only type of person on this earth so be aware of the 'other' types of people who share it with you.
